We would love to hear from you about how you feel about your swim club!

The Swarthmore Swim Club is always attempting to focus on those areas of the club that are a priority to our members.  Listed below are those that command the majority of our efforts.  We need to know if our efforts are directed to the right areas. Please take a moment and tell us:

It has been suggested that with the growing popularity of SRA’s annual bocce tournament, the SSC picnic grove might be a perfect place to install several bocce courts.  Whether for formal tournaments, or simply to help SSC members excel at their game, it seems like a nice, quiet, relaxing sport to add.
Which of the following would appeal to you or your family?  Select all that apply
When it’s a bit too chilly to swim, if the pool area could be secured (so no one would fall in) and there was access to the bathrooms, are their events that the SSC community would want to have?  Campfire evenings in the fall; Octoberfest or other such events; rentals to members for private (outdoor) functions?
How likely are you to recommend this Club to others and what two things would you recommend be changed or improved?  Comments please...
How do you feel about the Board allowing adults to bring their own wine and/or beer (in limited amounts) to consume with a meal at specified events when the pool is open?
With the current check-in desk location, children using the snack bar and basketball area are constantly going in and out of the ‘secured’ area.  This makes it difficult to know how many guests are entering without paying, and makes the facility less secure in general.  It has been proposed that we explore a reconfiguration of the grounds to create a single check-in point that then encompasses the pool, basketball, and picnic grove into a larger ‘secured’ area.  To accomplish this, bicycle racks would be moved closer to the driveway gate.  Pedestrians would then use a new  footpath that would roughly follow the creek (on the side away from the parking lot) up to meet the existing concrete entrance walk, where a central check-in point would be added down from the office.  A new fence would parallell this new path and separate the basketball from the pedestrians and parking lot.
Resulting improvements:
·  Opening access between the basketball / play area and the picnic grove permanently.
·  Opportunity to naturalize the creekbanks between these two areas, resulting in better stewardship of the woodlands and a more attractive picnic grove (fewer cyclone fences0
·  Although fencing would remain to allow for separating the pool from the basketball and picnic areas (for off-season events), it would normally make for one large, open set of grounds.
·  Check-in would be simplified as only new arrivals would be needing to check in.
·  New fencing between the parking area and ‘secure’ area would allow us to leave the parking lot open at times for police and security patrols to drive in and easily view the pool.
Comments, concerns, questions please...
Embracing Technology

The current ID system is a Swarthmore tradition, but should it evolve?  The use a barcode or magnetic stripe ID card could allow us to utilize new technology and improve services to members.  The opportunities include:

·  No longer needing to sign in if you have your ID.  We could implement an express check-in where members just “swipe and go” and only guests or those who forgot their cards would need to go through the sign-in process.
·  Members who chose, might be able to make purchases “on account” – parents might authorize kids to purchase meals (and/or snack bar purchases), to ‘charge’ their attendance at the SPLASH parties, etc.
· Lost and stolen cards could be easily de-activated and replaced.

Question: Are you generally supportive of exploring the possibility of bar-coded membership cards?
